We would like to invite you to a one-day simulation on Saturday, October 19, at the University of Mannheim.
As part of a scientific study, we will simulate an international United Nations climate change conference (Conference of the Parties), which we are organizing in collaboration with a team of researchers from the Universities of Munich, Jena and Bern. It will be a MUN conference as you know it – but also much more: As the conference is part of an international research project, you can contribute with your participation to actual research on climate change.
The conference will take place on Saturday, October 19, from 9 am to 5 pm, including a break where we’ll all grab lunch together. You will receive an interesting study guide and will get the opportunity to further hone and practice your rhetorical skills, especially with regard to your upcoming conferences. You will be asked to write a short position paper and will get detailed feedback, so you can practice writing a position paper. Also, the two best position papers will be awarded a prize. And in case you need even more motivation: there will be free snacks throughout the day, and every delegate will receive a compensation of 20 Euros for their efforts.
We organize a social in the theater of Germany’s largest Baroque castle with free beer and plenty of opportunities to socialize, relax and party after an intense debate. For guests from outside of Mannheim, complementary couchsurfing opportunities will be provided.
