Following year the 29th edition of Harvard WorldMUN takes us to Japan! Detailed information regarding the selection process for the MUN Mannheim delegation will be released shortly.

WorldMUN was founded in 1991 by a group Harvard students, however, soon began to change venues annually, taking place at traditional cities of Europe, East Asia, South America, North Africa, Middle East, and North America. Today, WorldMUN has become the most internationally diverse college-level Model UN conference and it is the largest conference outside North America with more than 2500 delegates from over 80 countries. Thus it promises a unique and outstanding experience in every MUN delegate’s career.

The founders were looking to develop a conference experience that expands beyond committee. Through the introduction of a host team, the Global Village was presented, with delegates bringing food, drinks, songs and traditions from their homelands, and Cabaret, a global talent show, where delegations could present traditional, entertaining or inspiring performances, soon became highlights. A so-called World MUN spirit – a spirit of friendship and cooperation across borders and a deeper understanding of cultures and perspectives beyond one’s own – developed and has ever since been an unique feature of this very different Model UN conference.

Besides, World MUN offers a wide variety of committees, giving delegates the option to engage in political, economic, social, legal or cultural issues. In the past years all committees have been categorized in three sections. First and foremost there are the committees of the General Assembly and Specialized Agencies depicting the core of World MUN. The second section consists of the committees of the Economic and Social Council and Regional Bodies such as the European Union or the African Union. Last but not least the third section includes mainly Crisis Simulations or Historic Committees.

As the conference moves into its 29th year, it has grown truly to the Olympics of MUN, promising participants a unique experience and the chance to make friends with people from places all over the world.
